People are often unsure what to expect during a sports massage treatment, especially when seeking treatment for the first time. At Healthy Bodies Clinic, our practitioners always conduct an initial consultation. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, and us the opportunity to determine why you are seeking treatment. No, in our opinion, sports massage should never be painful. Although, some areas of muscle tension can be uncomfortable. To avoid any unnecessary discomfort, good communication between patient and practitioner is essential. In order to achieve optimal relaxation of muscles, it is important to use just the right amount of pressure.

You should wear whatever you are most comfortable in. For females, either underwear or shorts and vest top is fine. For males, boxer shorts or shorts and a t-shirt is fine. Towels will be used to cover you at all times and only the area being treated will be uncovered.

This depends on the type of treatment you have received. It is a general misconception that complete rest is needed following a sports massage. Complete rest is rarely required if the correct amount of pressure has been used. Aftercare advice will be discussed with you in detail at the end of each visit.
